About the Author
- Ronald Sherman
- Dr. Sherman is the Director of the non-profit, BioTherapeutics, Education & Research (BTER) Foundation, whose mission is to support patient care, education, and research in maggot therapy, leech therapy, and the other biotherapeutic modalities. He has been studying the history, biology and clinical applications of maggots and maggot therapy since 1981. Born in Los Angeles, Ronald Sherman earned his BS in Entomology at UC Riverside, his MD at UCLA, and his MSc in Clinical Tropical Medicine at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at UC Davis in 1987 and his Infectious Diseases Fellowship at UC Irvine in 1991. Dr. Sherman currently works one day/week as an HIV clinic doctor for the county's health department. This allows him the time and financial freedom to spend the rest of the week studying, teaching, administrating and doing research in Biotherapy.
